As part of their teambuilding exercise, more than 50 senior managers and engineers built 20 wheelchairs for donation to Legionnaires and senior citizens.

District 20 Legionnaire and Service Officer Billy Hill attended the event and transported the wheelchairs to Fred Brock American Legion Post 828 for storage and future distribution.

American Legion Posts within the District coordinated with Hill for distribution of the wheelchairs to those in need.

“This donation was able to directly go to a new resident in need who had a drastic health change and suddenly found themselves in need of one,” said Valerie Chapa, activity director at Pecan Valley Rehabilitation & Healthcare. “It truly gave the patient their independence back and when the resident discharges they will be able to take it home. We would like to thank the American Legion for considering our facility, its stories like these that remind us of the positive impact community members benefit from when organizations collaborate together.”
